Richard Fleischman was a highly respected accounting historian. He emphasized the importance of using primary source material and applying different paradigms in his research. His research was published in the leading accounting history journals focusing on three themes: 1) British Industrial Revolution Accounting, 2) US Cost Accounting History, and 3) Accounting for Slavery.  He had a number of coauthors in the UK, US, and Australia.
