Plenary Perspectives Special Section

The following special section represents a new AJIDD initiative in which we feature short perspectives based on invited plenary talks at national conferences with high relevance for intellectual and developmental disability (IDD) research. This Plenary Perspectives Special Section reflects the theme of the 2019 Gatlinburg Conference on Research and Theory in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, held in San Antonio, TX, on Translational Research on Down Syndrome. Four invited plenary speakers addressed advances at the frontiers of our basic scientific knowledge and understanding of Down syndrome, as well as important translational intersections and clinical research opportunities of relevance to practice and policy. Each speaker was asked to summarize their talk around background issues, contemporary advances, and future outlook.
