The following special section represents a relatively new AJIDD initiative in which we feature short Perspectives based on invited plenary talks at national conferences with high relevance for intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) research. This Plenary Perspectives special section reflects the theme of the 2019 American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD) annual conference held in Saint Paul, MN, on “Knowledge Translation: Power Through Research, Policy, and Practice.” In many ways this is a return to our “roots” as there was a period of time during which there was a commitment on the part of the journal to feature convention presentations in the pages of AJIDD.
