This review essay describes selected recent writings on the preservation of nonpaper materials. Following an introduction to general works and periodicals, the author notes important new publications (including forthcoming ones) on the preservation of sound recordings, moving images, photographs, microforms, and magnetic and optical media. In the latter category, the volume of literature is particularly scarce. The essay ends with an explanation of the author's survey strategy.
