While archivists participate actively in their national professional association, the Society of American Archivists' (SAA) membership is aging. In 1979, 60 percent of all members were under forty; in 1989, 60 percent were over forty. The author discusses the benefits of participating in SAA to those new to the profession and suggests means for involving younger archivists in the work of the society.
