We would like to thank Dr. Nikolai for his contribution and comments about the title of our article. The elastics provide a force vector. Their specific characteristics, namely their magnitude, direction (sense), line of action, and point of application can define force vectors. The effect of the forces is a combination of its linear effect and its tendency to produce rotation, the moment of the force. The title should be more extensive and descriptive. It is not only the direction of the force and the point of force application it's also the perpendicular distance of the line of action from the maxilla's center of resistance. The greater the distance, the greater the occlusal plane change. These results emphasize the importance of understanding the concept of a moment of a force. Without awareness of this key characteristic, the clinician may fail to achieve the desired results.
