Given the geopolitical significance of the Middle East region and the high incidence of domestic and international conflict in the post-Arab Spring era—it is imperative that we revisit the importance of mediation in conflict resolution. Through holistic analysis of the reconciliation and the process of mediation in the Arab world, this article will address and shed fresh light on the specificity of mediation in the Arab world. It will also highlight the significance of cultural variables that impact the success or failure of mediation. Lessons learned and how a mediation process can develop in Arab society will set the parameters and introduce a new perspective into formulating a long-term sustainable solution to intractable conflicts.
