I am fortunate to have co-authored several books with Shannon. While I had gotten to know Shannon through conferences as well as through teaching valuation courses together, our collaboration began in August 2006 when Shannon asked me to co-author the Cost of Capital 3rd edition.
I had edited portions of and contributed to the first two editions. But we agreed to greatly expand the content of the 3rd edition. As this was to be my first book, I decided to “camp” in Shannon's office in Portland OR to ensure that we would be able to complete the book in a reasonable amount of time. I would spend two weeks in Portland and travel back to home in Chicago for a week, then back to Portland.
