I study the evolution of form and function within the context of understanding aquatic biodiversity. My work integrates biomechanics, morphometry, and bio-imaging with phylogenetics and evolutionary ecology. I am principally interested in the evolution of traits, and I rely on this gamut of techniques and perspectives to tease apart the complex histories of why an animal looks and behaves a certain way.
