It is my pleasure to have this opportunity to comment on this attractive and informative volume. The book has broad relevance, including natural history, the history of natural history, ichthyology, and related areas of study.
The organization, the introduction and translation into Portuguese are by the author; the text component of the book amounting to 62 pages of text, including the References section, two maps, 212 illustrations of fishes, and five tables, of which four are located in appendices, are by Wallace.
