I study Neotropical fish taxonomy and systematics with an emphasis on catfishes. I have researched and published on several catfish families like auchenipterids, aspredinids, callichthyids, doradids, heptapterids, and pimelodids, and also published on non-catfish families like anablepids, belonids, characids, cichlids, crenuchids, curimatids, poeciliids, and rivulids. However, my heart really belongs to the loricariids, or South American armored catfishes.
