Abstract
An evaluation was made of various materials on the secondary side of boiler models built and operated in simulation of a full scale unit in a pressurized water nuclear power plant. Materials tested included stainless steel, carbon steel, Croloy 2¼, Croloy 16–1, nickel, Inconel, and Monel. Considerable attention was given to problems involving stress corrosion cracking,, particularly of Type 347 stainless steel tubing. Other topics discussed include control of dissolved oxygen concentration, pitting corrosion, and location of tubing areas most susceptible to corrosion. 7.6.4
