Abstract
Free corrosion studies were made of Ferrovac E in 75 and 105% phosphoric acid in the temperature range 25 to 125 C (77 to 257 F). Corrosion rates and rate constants were derived for each experimental temperature; the energy of activation for free corrosion is 14 kcal/mole in 75% H3PO4 and 11 kcal/mole in 105% H3PO4. Annealing followed by electropolishing decreased the rate of corrosion of cold worked specimens in 75% H3PO4.
