Abstract
Perspectives on corrosion looks back ten years or so and into the ‘seventies. General ignorance by many engineering disciplines and others and resultant costly failures are emphasized. The scope of the corrosion problem is described. Discussed are forms of corrosion and methods for combatting; secondary reactions; effects of materials structure; advances in techniques for measuring corrosion; important developments; and needs for the 1970's. Need for involvement by metallurgists is emphasized.
