Quarterly Report Clarification of De-Alloying Phenomena

This research is sponsored by an NACE Fellowship Grant to the University of Florida arid provides partial support for R. H. Heidersbach. The Project, directed E. D. Verink, involves the use of a unique combination of experimental methods which include special X-ray techniques and quantitative metallographic techniques using the microprobe. The purpose is to clarify the mechanism of de-alloying. This is a quarterly report submitted in January, 1971 for the period ending December 31, 1970, by the Metallurgical Research Laboratory of the Engineering and Industrial Experiment Station, University of Florida, Gainesville. A previous report was published in the October, 1970 issue of Corrosion, Vol. 26, p. 445.
