Ellipsometric measurements of oxide film formed at 100 to 350 C in air were performed on a steel specimen. The complex indices of refraction of individual layers in the multilayer oxide film and their thicknesses were determined. The kinetics of oxide film formation was studied and the activation energy for film formation was calculated.
