Abstract
Seven types of corrosion and precorrosion of painted metals are reviewed: blistering, early rusting, flash rusting, anodic undermining, filiform corrosion, cathodic delamination, and wet adhesion. The importance of the nature of the interfacial region between the coating and the metal is emphasized. Ten unsolved problems are described.
