Abstract
The stress corrosion cracking (SCC) susceptibility of Inconel X-750 and sensitized AISI 304 has been investigated in relation to very low levels of chloride in high-temperature water, and it has been verified that the SCC susceptibility of the alloys is still sensitive to the chloride content, even at below 200 ppb. The chloride content must be below 20 ppb for the alloys to become immune to SCC in high-temperature water.
