A model that, in an analytical expression, correlates the AISI 316 pitting potential by means of bleach process variables such as pH, chloride ion concentration, and temperature is conducted. The resultant expression is Ep=2570−5.81 T+0.07 T pH−0.49 T log[Cl−]⁠, where Ep is expressed in mV in relation to the saturated calomel electrode (SCE), the temperature (T) in degrees K, and the chloride concentration [Cl−] in ppm.
