Abstract
This study focuses on the corrosion of Mo in acidic media (sulfuric acid [H2SO4] and hydrochloric acid [HCl]). The effect of the electrode pretreatment was investigated by testing the electrode at different cathodic potentials. The effect of propargyl alcohol (an effective inhibitor for Fe alloys) on the corrosion of Mo was examined. The reduction and oxidation potentials of Mo in these media and the amount of charge passing through the circuit, depending on the pretreatment and the composition of the solutions studied, were also determined.
