Five new organic volatile corrosion inhibitors (VCI) were synthesized using 1,6-diaminohexane with various acids such as cinnamic acid (C9H8O2), nitrobenzoic acid (C7H5O4N), phthalic acid (C8H6O4), maleic acid (C4H4O4), and orthophosphoric acid (H3O4P), and their inhibiting action on corrosion of aluminum, zinc, and mild steel was evaluated by various standard methods. The electrochemical potentiodynamic polarization method was also used to understand the electrochemical nature of inhibitors. All investigated VCI exhibited very good inhibition efficiency (IE) for all the metals.
