Abstract
This paper discusses in a general fashion the problems of designing for corrosive processes. Good design data, which is obtainable from the pilot plant data will insure more reliable operation of the full scale plant. Shutdown procedures and equipment inspection methods should be considered in the designs. In the choice of materials due consideration should be given to ease of fabrication and ability to withstand abuse. Failure analysis of the pilot plant and full scale equipment can do much to improve reliability and to reduce cost of construction.
