CORROSION Editorial Board

Ingrid Milošev

Dr. Ingrid Milošev is the Head of the Department of Physical and Organic Chemistry at Jožef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana, Slovenia, where she has worked since 1987. She is also a scientific advisor for Valdoltra Orthopaedic Hospital, where she previously worked for 18 years as the assistant manager for research and education. She received a B.Sc. in chemical technology from the University of Zagreb and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Her research focuses on corrosion processes and corrosion protection of technological and biomedical materials aiming to prolong their lifetime and functional abilities. Dr. Milošev studies methods of corrosion protection including corrosion inhibitors, inorganic and hybrid (inorganic and organic) sol-gel coatings, conversion coatings based on rare earth salts or metal fluorides, and inorganic coatings. Materials of interest are various technological materials to be protected in different corrosive environments (such as aluminum alloys, copper alloys, and iron alloys) and alloys (titanium and cobalt alloys) used in biomedical applications.

Dr. Milošev has been awarded the Slovenian national award, Zois Certificate of Recognition, for significant achievements in 2011 and the Pregl award of the National Institute of Chemistry for exceptional achievements in 2016. She is a member of the AMPP Publications Program Committee and is also a member of the editorial board of npj Materials Degradation and Coatings journal. She has previously served as a Guest Editor for CORROSION's December 2017 special issue on biocorrosion.

Research Interests: electrochemistry, corrosion, corrosion protection, corrosion inhibitors, conversion coatings, sol-gel coatings, antifouling coatings, surface analysis, biomedical alloys, implant retrieval
