Introduction
Dr. Norman Ira Platnick, Curator Emeritus at the American Museum of Natural History, New York, passed away on 8 April 2020 in Philadelphia, PA, after a tragic accident. Norm, as he was known to friends and colleagues, was a prolific scientist. The exceptional body of work he published over the course of a four-and-a-half-decade career fundamentally affected several fields, especially arachnology and the study of spiders (Araneae Clerck, 1757), in particular.
In recognition of his contributions, six spider genera, NormplatnickaRix and Harvey, 2010, PlatnickiaJocqué, 1991, Platnickina Koçak and Kemal, 2008, PlatnickniaÖzdikmen and Demir, 2009 (= ModisimusSimon, 1893), PlatnickopodaJäger, 2020, and PlatnickMarusik and Fomichev, 2020, and 41 species of spiders (in 23 families), three scorpions (Scorpiones C. L. Koch, 1837), three harvestmen (Opiliones Sundevall, 1833), two hooded-tick spiders (Ricinulei Thorell, 1876), a whip spider (Amblypygi Thorell, 1833), a false scorpion (Pseudoscorpiones Haeckel, 1866), and a millipede (Diplopoda Blainville, 1844) are named in his honor (Tables 1, 2).
Number of arachnid and myriapod genus-group and species-group names honoring Norman I. Platnick.

Material and Methods
The 58 names dedicated to Norman I. Platnick in the last 43 years are listed below. Data were obtained from the World Spider Catalog Version 21.0 (2020), Millibase (Sierwald and Spelda, 2020), printed and online catalogs (Fet et al., 2000; Giribet, 2000; Harvey, 2003, 2013a, b; Kury, 2003). Taxa are arranged systematically into two lists, the first providing genus-group patronyms and the second providing species-group patronyms. Original names and synonyms are provided in square brackets after currently recognized names.
