The social scientist in the Peace Corps has a chance to see young Americans in interaction under the stress of peace conditions as they try to help create a Utopia in a developing area. Unlike early Utopian groups that isolated themselves from the rest of society in an attempt to create a new pattern of interaction, the Peace Corps volunteer works as one of a large number of persons to help bring about change from within a society. He is there to help facilitate change which the members of the society desire, and to learn something about the society in the process.
