Most of us, including those medically trained, have a picture of the musculoskel etal system that resembles the superb medical charts that I use in my practice. Muscles are neatly compartmentalized and dissection notes blandly refer to the fascia obliquely, for example "Cut away the fascia to reveal the...," and similar notations. Little credence is given to fascia as anything other than a part of the skin or fat of the body. This is unfortunate since fascia have a massively important role to play in the health of the human frame.
