Abstract

An ultrasound at 33 weeks of pregnancy diagnosed my daughter, Everly, with a congenital heart defect (CHD). Doctors discovered that her aorta wasn't connected to the rest of her body, a condition known as interrupted aortic arch (IAA). This patient perspective highlights the first minutes through 1 1/2 years of Everly's medical journey, spotlighting several successful surgeries, vascular access challenges, and compassion in care.
