This paper describes the variation in wave overtopping rate with deformation of wave dissipating work. Slight deformation of wave dissipating work is expected to cause no significant increase in wave overtopping rate. A series of hydraulic experiment was conducted to measure the wave overtopping rate at a vertical seawall with deformed wave dissipating work. The experiment shows that the deformation of wave dissipating work does not necessarily cause a drastic increase in the wave overtopping rate. Although a procedure for estimating the wave overtopping rate is proposed, the results show that the procedure needs to be improved.
