Special Issue 45 of the Journal of Coastal Research is the outgrowth of many years of research and monitoring conducted at 26 National Estuarine Research Reserve System (NERRS) program sites. The papers comprising this special issue represent an array of studies by individuals from academia, state and federal government agencies, and independent research institutions. The Estuarine Reserves Division (ERD) of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Silver Spring, Maryland, authorized the production of this publication through the NERRS program.
