ABSTRACT
The Indonesian government has committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2060. Given that Indonesian buildings consume more energy than other sectors, a green building rating program was implemented in 2022, making green building certification mandatory. Despite this, only a small number of designers achieved this certification. The most effective way to get this certification is to teach university students about green building curricula. However, most universities in Indonesia offer only a limited number of green building courses. This research aims to understand current Indonesian conditions regarding green building curricula for architecture students. Interviews and questionnaire responses are the primary data sources, which were randomly distributed to architecture students and lecturers with experience mainly in Java and Sumatra. The survey findings showed that the main barriers to fulfilling green building goals are poor support, inadequate knowledge and information, high costs and difficulties getting green building certification, and limited understanding of green building work. Moreover, the recommendation from this research can be used as a guideline to universities and governments to increase awareness of green building.
