I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the Journal of Mental Health Counseling (JMHC) as its Editor, starting with the publication of this issue. After selecting the title of this editorial, I realized its similarity to the late James (Jim) R. Rogers's 2002 article “Looking Back and Moving Forward: Research in the Journal of Mental Health Counseling,” which he wrote when he started as Associate Editor of Research for JMHC, prior to his tenure as Editor. As Jim was an influential mentor to me during the early years of my career, as well as the person who invited me to become involved with JMHC, I believe it is fitting that I follow his example and present my thoughts on the rich history of JMHC and my hopes for its future.
