The 115th Annual Meeting of the North Carolina Academy of Science was dedicated to the memory of our good friend and colleague, Dr. John C. Clamp. John's untimely passing on 6 February 2018 has left a void in the Academy that cannot be filled. His passing means the loss of institutional memory. He was the Academy's long-time Parliamentarian, and he served the Academy in numerous capacities, including a term as President. John's affiliation with the Academy began decades ago, while still a student at Methodist College, and it was during one of the Academy's annual meetings that John experienced his first research conference.
