The one hundredth and seventeenth annual meeting of the North Carolina Academy of Science, Inc. was hosted virtually by Lenoir-Rhyne University located in Hickory, North Carolina, March 12 and 13 of 2021 with the Collegiate Academy (CANCAS) joining the Senior Academy. The COVID-19 pandemic shut downs in the U.S. in March 2020 caused the 2020 annual meeting to be canceled, but the 2021 annual meeting was determined to occur and host-institution, Lenoir-Rhyne University put together an excellent virtual experience. The theme of the meeting was “Vision 2021: Seeing Connections–Solving Problems” and highlighted the importance of basic science to solve difficult problems.

Activities Friday, March 12 took place over Zoom coordinated by the Lenoir-Rhyne University Local Arrangements Committee.
