Fellow members and guests of the American Society of Parasitologists, it is my pleasure and privilege to introduce Dr. Matthew G. Bolek, Associate Professor of Integrative Biology, Oklahoma State University, and 2019 Henry Baldwin Ward medalist. I have known Dr. Bolek, who for the next few minutes I'll refer to as Matt, since he arrived in my lab as a doctoral candidate in the summer of 2000 and wasted no time whatsoever in making it out to our Cedar Point Biological Station, where he became a summertime fixture for the next few years. Back on campus, however, he quickly established himself as a premier teaching assistant, exuding the enthusiasm and idealism that you've all seen during his many presentations at ASP meetings, and selling those traits to his students.
