This year the Ashton Cuckler New Investigator Award is presented to Dr. T. Graham Rosser, Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Basic Sciences of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University. Dr. Rosser earned his Ph.D. degree from Mississippi State University in 2017 focusing on the subject of myxozoan development in channel and channel × blue hybrid catfish. Subsequently, he was hired as a postdoctoral researcher, and by the fall of 2017, he was appointed as an assistant research professor in his current academic unit. His investigations about the pathology, distribution, development, evolution, and taxonomy of myxozoans associated with catfish provided a phylogenetic framework to test the hypothesis of conservatism of the actinospore stage across ictalurid dwelling species of Henneguya. In addition, his research showed the inability of the parasite Henneguya ictaluri to continue its development and form spores in channel × blue hybrid catfish. In...
