Leon Duobinis-Gray passed away 31 August 2019 at his home in Lynn Grove, Kentucky. He was 69 years old. He was born on 20 November 1949 in LaFollette, Tennessee. He received his B.S. (Biology) and M.S. (Biology) degrees from East Tennessee State University in 1971 and 1976, respectively. Leon began his academic career as an instructor in the Department of Biology at Tusculum College, where he worked from 1976 to 1980. He returned to graduate studies at Louisiana State University where he joined the laboratory of Dr. Kenneth C. Corkum and earned his Ph.D. in Zoology (Parasitology) in 1986. His dissertation research on the population dynamics of monogenean parasites on blue gill would remain a focal interest throughout his career as he applied that experience toward investigation of other aquatic host–parasite systems.
