Dr. Vasyl Tkach, President of our Society, is the Chester Fritz Professor at the University of North Dakota (Fig. 1). Most importantly Vasyl is one of the preeminent parasitologists of our time. Anyone who has done field work with him, walked into his lab, or mistakenly happened into an elevator with him is likely to be regaled with stories of parasites, or asked to look at just one more sequence, or be reminded of the vital importance of setting just one more trap, of cutting just one more host, or of ignoring the mammologists or herpetologists or ornithologists who have gone off to drink beer (or even just to eat) as Vasyl press gangs you into examining and preserving that day's parasitological bounty.
