Dr. John Bristol, better known to all as “Jack,” was the favorite professor of hundreds of students and a distinguished academic administrator at the University of Texas–El Paso (UTEP); he passed away at age 84, in El Paso, Texas. Obituaries are notices of death, especially in newspapers, and typically include a biography of a person's birth, early life, professional accomplishments, and surviving family members. For those interested, there is a beautiful obit published online (8 February 2023) in The El Paso Times by Dr. Wynn Anderson, one of Jack's closest administrative colleagues at UTEP, and another in The Prospector, UTEP's daily newspaper (24 February 2023) by a staff reporter, who gave a student's perspective of Jack.
