Byron Lynn Blagburn passed away on 8 May 2024, at his home in Auburn, Alabama. He was 77 years old. Byron was born in 1947 to Dalton and Mildren Blagburn of Caruthersville, Missouri. He has 2 siblings, Charles (older brother) and Linda (younger sister). His family moved to Benton Harbor, Michigan, where he grew up and graduated from high school. In his early adult years, Byron was interested in guitars and making music. He trained at the Berklee School of Music in Boston, Massachusetts and played in several bands. He entered Andrews University in fall of 1972, where he received his B.S. (Biology) and M.A. (Biology) degrees in 1975 and 1978, respectively. Byron’s career path in veterinary parasitology traces its origins to part-time work as an undergraduate student in a local veterinary practice and the mentorship received from Dr. Bill Chobotar, a professor of biology at Andrews University, whose research...
