Good afternoon. Members of the American Society of Parasitologists, it is my distinct honor and pleasure to introduce the 2024 Clark P. Read Mentor Award winner, Dr. Vasyl Tkach. Vasyl is well known not only for his research on a variety of helminth taxa but also for his dedication to this society and its members. Even though he often needs no introduction, I want to begin with a brief background. Vasyl was born in western Ukraine, within the then Soviet Union. As a child he spent much of this time exploring nature and reading voraciously about natural history. These interests would serve him well in his future career. He received an M.S. in biological sciences from Uzhhorod State University in Ukraine, a Ph.D. in parasitology from the Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg, and a Doctor of Science in biology-parasitology from the Institute of Parasitology...
