Good afternoon and welcome, fellow members and guests of the American Society of Parasitologists. It is my distinct pleasure to introduce my friend and colleague, Dr. Janet Koprivnikar, who is the 2024 recipient of the Henry Baldwin Ward Medal from ASP. Henry Ward founded the Journal of Parasitology and was the Society’s first president in 1925. The award was established in 1959 to recognize individuals “who, by self-directed investigations, shall have attained a position of leadership in some phase of parasitological research.” Today Janet becomes the 61st recipient of the Ward Medal. I’ll offer a brief introduction of Janet on behalf of the nomination committee, which also included Drs. Mark Forbes, David Marcogliese, and Cam Goater.
