Please allow me to convene the 2000 American Society of Parasitology Presidential Address. Before I ask Dr. Fayer to join us for his presidential address, I would like to share with you some aspects of his interesting past.
As is the case with most of you, I have known Ron Fayer for a good many years. I must admit, however, that it wasn't until I searched his past (both personal and professional) that I came to know the real Dr. Fayer. Ron, as did many of us, rose from humble beginnings. For Ron, it was a couple of small western New Jersey towns, not far from Philadelphia, his actual birthplace. Ron tells several stories of his early childhood, but my favorite is his account of his occupation (at the age of 6) as an egg candler.
