Science lost a significant participant in, and contributor to, the field of Parasitology with the death of Dr. Robert C. Bergstrom, 79, on 29 April 2001, at the VA Medical Center, Sheridan, Wyoming, following a protracted illness. Bob was born 23 March 1922 in Newcastle, Wyoming, and attended high school there; he was raised on a ranch, remaining a true Westerner throughout his life.
Bob enlisted and served with distinction as a signalman on armed merchantmen in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and following his honorable discharge from active duty, he continued to serve in the U.S. Naval Reserve for several years. On 30 June 1948, he was married to Patsy Jean Taylor, and they had three children.
