As noted by the authors in their Preface, the number of cats estimated to be present in the United States in 1998 was 70.9 million, in roughly 34% of the 100 million households, surpassing the number of dogs by more than 23 million. No wonder the authors believe a book like this would be useful to veterinarians and veterinary parasitologists, and these are the folks for whom the book was designed to be of service.
