Dr. Robert Marvin Corwin died in his sleep at his home at Hallsville, Missouri, on 9 February 2001. A professor of veterinary microbiology at the University of Missouri—Columbia, he had a long and distinguished career as a veterinary parasitologist, first at Michigan State University (MSU, 1967–1974) and subsequently at Missouri, where he retired in 1999. Dr. Corwin was a dedicated and respected teacher and researcher, who devoted his career especially to his students. He was well known for his excellence in teaching D.V.M. and graduate students, of whom he mentored 11 M.S. and 2 Ph.D. students to completion. He had a special interest in the helminth parasites of food animals as well as in heartworms and GI helminths of dogs.
