President Dennis Minchella called the meeting to order at 0805 hr and made a few opening remarks. The printed order of business was changed to allow discussion of the effects of Hurricane Dennis on the meetings and what options were available to the Society as a result of the storm. President Minchella called for a motion to modify the meeting schedule; John Janovy so moved and Scott Gardner seconded.

Motion #1. The 2005 American Society of Parasitologists (ASP) meeting should be ended early and the schedule of events should be modified to take into account hurricane effects.

Don Duszynski, Scientific Program Officer, read portions of the contract with the hotel regarding cancellation, and Steve Kayes provided Council with information on local hurricane experiences. The motion was informally tabled to allow time to obtain more information about ASP options and the hurricane track.
