Dr. Lynn Ann Hertel, 53, passed away on Saturday, 2 April 2005, in her home, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Dr. Eugene Hertel, Jr.; 2 children, Jessica, 22, and Justin, 17; her father, Charles Dierling of Beacon Falls, Connecticut; and her brother, Charles Dierling of Wilmington, North Carolina. Lynn was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, on 14 August 1951. She earned a degree as a registered nurse in Connecticut, and then she and Gene moved to Albuquerque in 1973, where she served as a staff nurse in the intensive care unit of Presbyterian Hospital from 1973 to 1979. She earned her B.S. from the University of New Mexico in 1982, with a major in Biology and a minor in Art.
