I first met Al Bush nearly 35 years ago. He had come to our Department of Biology at Wake Forest to visit with Ray Kuhn, a friend of Randy Vaughn who had gone up to work with John Holmes at the University of Alberta. Randy and Al were both graduate students of John at the time. On his visit to Wake, I also met Al's wife, Maggie, and what a great lady she was and still is. Al, Maggie, and their two sons were to visit my wife, Ann, and me, several times over a span of many years. Ann and I especially remember the semester that Al and Maggie spent with us while he was on sabbatical from Brandon University, where he taught for so many years. We all became great friends in the process.

There are so many good things and great memories that I have of Al....
