MHC Editors' Choice Award 2020

The Mental Health Clinician (MHC) is making a meaningful contribution to mental health literature, with articles being viewed over 70 000 times each month. The editorial board sincerely appreciates everyone who has contributed to that growth by submitting manuscripts to the MHC.

We have created the MHC Editors' Choice Award for Outstanding Articles to recognize some of the best articles over time. The articles were chosen by looking at articles published in the last 4 years (2017-2020) that received significant readership through PubMed. The MHC editors then selected the winners from that narrowed list of articles based on their originality, significance, and contribution to psychopharmacology literature. Congratulations to the winners of the inaugural award!

Outstanding and Trusted Peer Reviewers 2020

Peer reviewers are essential to maintaining the quality of content in the MHC. The MHC editorial board focuses on aligning with industry standards for review, including standards set by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE, http://www.icmje.org/), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE, https://publicationethics.org/), and others. Thus, it is no surprise that our peer review process closely resembles that used by other publications (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1828092/). Each manuscript is reviewed by 3 peers, and we are proud of the psychiatric professionals that have contributed reliably to the review process.

To recognize our most prolific peer reviewers, we are establishing 2 designations based on the number of reviews submitted since January 1, 2015. Attaining these designations means that the review quality and timeliness justified repeated use and that the reviewer was willing to invest the time when invited. Outstanding Peer Reviewers are those that have completed at least 20 reviews, and Trusted Peer Reviewers include those that have completed at least 10 reviews.

Congratulations to these Outstanding and Trusted Peer Reviewers, and a sincere thanks to everyone who peer reviewed for The Mental Health Clinician over the last year!
