Language, Learning, and Disability in the Education of Young Bilingual Children (2021), edited by Dina C. Castro and Alfredo J. Artiles, presents research focused on young bilingual children with dis/abilities or young bilingual children at risk for being labeled as dis/abled (one of the ways authors describe this population of children in the book). Taking an intersectional perspective, the editors invite readers to consider the fields of bilingual education, special education, and early childhood education, and the barriers that bilingual children experience within and across these education systems. Across 10 chapters, the authors propose equitable practices for addressing challenges that young bilingual children with dis/abilities experience in schools.
